I am a self-taught artist residing in Santa Clarita, California. I retired from teaching college writing courses and am delighted to have the time now to devote to my art. I work in pastel, acrylic, and oil to create paintings that reflect my emotional connection to nature and to the world. I consider myself a colorist, and as I try to let the painting tell me where it wants to go, I am ever mindful of the colors I choose deliberately, the colors that display themselves by happy accident, and their possible effects on the viewer.
I grew up in the midwest, moved with my family to the northeast, and ended up in California where I finished my formal education and began teaching in 1999. All the places where I have lived or visited and the people I have known or met have had a significant impact on the art that I produce whether it is written or painted, and I seek to pass that impact on to the viewer as best I can.
I live on the outskirts of Santa Clarita in a rural area with my husband and cats.
